The recipients of the City of La Porte Enterprise Zone 2019 Façade Grant Program will soon be
showing off a new look to the public in historic downtown La Porte! The 2019 grant recipients
are 814-816 Lincolnway, 612 Lincolnway (The original Packman’s Pizzeria), 609 Lincolnway
(Mucho Mas), 714 Lincolnway (Frontline Foundations), 715-719 Lincolnway and 805 Indiana
Avenue (Indiana Deli).

The City of La Porte Enterprise Zone is happy announce the investment of over $200,000.00 in
historic downtown La Porte, the hub of the Zone!

“Downtown La Porte is an extremely important part of our community. Making sure this area
represents the character and quality of La Porte drives us to continue to invest in the facades of
these buildings. This program has been one of our most popular and we hope to continue it
long into the future.” Angela Rose, Downtown Director said.

Since inception, the La Porte Enterprise Zone has supported ways to encourage local business
owners to invest in their own storefronts or property, and since 2016 has narrowed down that
idea into a formalized grant program entitled LPUEA Facade Grant Program. Under the program
the La Porte Enterprise Zone grants eighty (80%) of the cost of tuck pointing, painting and
awnings expenses on projects within a defined area of the downtown zone that improve the
look of a storefronts or property, after an application is submitted and reviewed by the City of
La Porte Urban Enterprise Zone Board.

“The City of La Porte Urban Enterprise Zone Board has a vision of a vibrant, visually appealing
historic downtown, and this program goes a long way to help offset the financial burden
business and property owner’s bear when making improvements,” said Mayor Mark Krentz.
“This program started as a way to encourage investment in our downtown and now, it has
become a way for the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership to facilitate relationships
with our downtown business community,” said Mike Riehle, LPUEA President.

This program aims to encourage new and existing property owners and businesses to invest in
their commercial storefronts downtown, partnering with the City of La Porte to maintain and
enhance the historic buildings and providing a catalyst for others to improve the visual
appearance of their own business or property.

Applications for the 2020 Façade Grant will be available in the fourth quarter of 2019. Contact
